Paper published on scientist outreach training

We recently had a paper published on the benefits of a comprehensive public-engagement training for scientists. The NSF-funded nationwide Portal to the Public (PoP) program incorporates learning theory, helps scientists build their own outreach activities that align with targeted outcomes, provides opportunities to practice, and offers easy access to audiences. We found sustained impacts on scientists’ disposition, perceived skills, and the type of outreach that they conduct. This training may even lead to perceived benefits to university teaching and career development.
